Each person has an innate ability to reach their full potential. As a psychotherapist, I would like to support you in creating the life that you want for yourself. I had worked with individuals, families, and couples with various backgrounds. Although I specialize in supporting individuals who have difficulty with anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, life transitions, and self-esteem, I am thrilled to collaborate with anyone who is ready to enhance their quality of life.
Hello, I’m Dr. Oreet Daniella Besner, a licensed marriage and family therapist, LMFT, LCSW, Psychologist, with a warm and collaborative approach to therapy. I hold an MA from Antioch University and a doctorate, PSY.D, from California School of Professional Psychology. I have 27 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, and self-esteem. I draw from evidence-based practices like CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy to support meaningful growth. I strive to create a safe, open space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.
I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. My undergraduate B.A and graduate M.A. training took place at Wheaton College. Following graduate school in the midwest, I moved to the west coast, where I attended the California School of Professional Psychology. Here, I earned a M.A in applied psychology and Psy. D. in clinical psychology with a dual emphasis in forensics and family therapy. My research consisted of working with high risk sexual offenders. Following my time on the west coast, I worked as a Staff Psychologist and Assistant Professor at a local university. In my free time, I train in combat arts and play guitar (try at least ;-).
As a licensed psychotherapist, I believe that mental health is essential for maintaining happiness, well-being, and a sense of security. While it may seem counterintuitive, seeking help is a courageous act, and showing vulnerability is a true sign of strength, not weakness.
I hold a Masters in Marriage, Family, Child Counseling from San Francisco State University. I specialize in self-esteem and working with attachment-related trauma, which is sometimes referred to as complex trauma or inner child wounding. Complex trauma can often look like anxiety, depression, unhealthy patterns, or a cycle of unfulfilling relationships.
My name is Jennifer Cruz, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I am passionate about working with people to help them heal and grow. I empathize with the many challenges people face in life and I want to help.
